The problem
Admissions, payment collection, approvals and hostel management lived in separate places. Every enrollment meant hopping between modules, and every exception meant an email to someone in accounts.
Staff across admissions, accounts and hostels needed one place to do their job, with the right people seeing the right records.
What I did
- Gathered requirements, wrote specs and delivered the Admission Portal: enrollment, payments, approvals, hostel and reports in one screen, launched to all admissions, accounts and hostel staff with training material.
- Owned the Admission Portal from spec to launch: enrollment, payment collection, approvals, hostel management, dashboards and support tickets in one role-based app, launched in Apr 2026.
- Built the platform's core finance modules end to end: discounts and concessions, hostel allotment and billing, refunds, and fee transfers between course, hostel and transport heads, each with role-based approvals.
- Built exam analytics in the portal: an exam master, marks entry, and summary views by centre, at-risk students and individual student.
- Gave ops teams self-serve tools: a report builder with joins, charts and pivots (contact fields hidden), a teacher utilisation dashboard and one-click Bonafide Certificates.
- Launched a Meal Tracker in Sep 2026: mentors log daily hostel meal counts, hostel managers approve within three days from approval buckets, and a 9 AM email chases pending approvals.
Outcome
After launch, the admissions team reported faster student verification than the previous module, and Physics Wallah tech product management recognised the portal.
